Meet Koyo

Hi, I’m Lindsay, the owner and lead photographer of Koyo Photography!

I’m based in North Vancouver, BC, where I live with my husband, Aaron, and our dog, Mei. I became fascinated by photography as a teenager, and I briefly considered going to photography school when I graduated. I ended up taking a very different path -- fun fact, I have a master’s degree in literature! -- but my love of photography stayed with me all the while. After grad school I moved to Japan, and it was there that I began to take photography more seriously. I eventually moved back to Vancouver to start Koyo Photography, and the rest is history!

SHOOTING PHILOSOPHY

When Aaron and I got married, we really wanted to find a photographer who “got us”. We wanted to look at our wedding photos and see recognizable (albeit slightly dolled up and super special) versions of ourselves looking back at us.

Every couple has a unique story, and every wedding day is such a wonderful expression of that. Since I’ll be there with you throughout your day, I want to get to know you as much as possible. What’s important to you, what makes you tick, what makes you laugh—I want to know it all! Getting up close and personal like this not only makes the process more fun, but it helps me deliver images that reflect who you are, as a couple. When I set out to shoot, we always have one goal in mind: I want my couples to look at their images and see a reflection of who they are and all their love staring right back at them.

For my business, one of my core values is inclusion, and I believe that all people deserve to have a wedding day that honours them, their community, their culture, and their story. Love is love, and love should always be celebrated.
